We saw drones, glitter, smooth dance moves, costume changes galore and important messages. But which of the eight gay porn stars who donned drag for the Miss Pineapple 2020 Pageant came out on top?
In conjunction with Pineapple Support, the first ever Miss Pineapple Pageant was webcast yesterday on the Falcon|NakedSword Twitch channel. Hosted by the legendary Sister Roma and the sexy, snarky Marc MacNamara (who directed the NakedSword hit A Murdered Heart this year), it featured three celebrity guest judges: RuPaul’s Drag Race star The Vixen; NakedSword Originals award-winning director mr. Pam; and straight porn star/gay BFF Sylvia Sage (who impressed with her glitter score cards!).
The eight performers shared pre-filmed videos (most done during quarantine) and joined in for live Q&As with the hosts. Here are some of the highlights…
8. Jack Hunter (aka Tera Dactyl) performed to “So Am I” by Ava Max, embracing his inner freak (and a straight-jacket, which we’re pretty sure is the only straight thing about Jack).
7. Levi Karter (aka Sassy Frass-Meaner) presented a montage of previously filmed live performances to “Proud Mary” by Tina Turner, and shook his booty like no other.
6. Avery Jones (Serenity Leona) was striking in his performance to “Icy” by Kim Petras (that opening pose!).
5. Beaux Banks (aka Bolene) impressed with the greatest smile around, and perhaps the most unlikely drag song: Patti Labelle singing the alphabet (although Beaux displayed words that Ms. Labelle probably didn’t intend when she sang in on Sesame Street…).
4. Steven Lee (aka MascKara) was ON POINT with the production values…the locations and costumes were killer in his Lady Gaga/Madonna “Babylon X Vogue” mashup.
3. Calvin Banks (aka Va’chyna Banks) took on the Karens of the world in a delicious performance that also had some memorable costume changes and a lot of attitude as he channeled Fergie and Nicki Minaj.
2. Diego Sans (aka Sandy Eggo) impressed with a drone, an opening message about the beauty in everyone, his biceps and his dance moves (featuring some cameo moves by judge Marc MacNamara!) as he performed to TLC’s “Unpretty.”
1. Dakota Payne (aka Gemini) started the show…and set a standard no one could beat as he lent his support to the Black Lives Matter movement on a moving piece with special guest Adrian Hart and set to a medley of “When Doves Cry” (the Quindon Tarver version from Romeo + Juliet ) and “Everybody’s Free” by Rozalla. Congrats, Dakota!
