The documentary was filmed two years ago, during the International Mr. Leather Contest’s 30th anniversary. Some participants were all about inclusivity, celebrating the diversity of a contestant pool that included a handicapped man, a straight man and some seniors. (Barebackers are the exception; they’re not welcome this year.)
On the other end of the spectrum are people like Mr. IML 2007 Mike Gerle, who lampooned "leatherman carpetbaggers" a few months ago and publicly rejects the notion of inclusivity at all costs. "If you’re not a gay sexy leatherman," Gerle says, "You’re going to have some trouble with my scoring."
