The decision just came down, 6-1 with only a dissent from Justice Moreno, and as expected the judges didn’t have the balls to follow political winds and go against the murky constitutionality of California’s proposition system. Fundies and conservatives have today scored a court victory, and the screaming outside the CA supreme court has begun (see link for live feed). We are expecting a lot of traffic-snarling marching up and down Market Street in San Francisco, and elsewhere, for the next several weeks.
The validity of the 18,000 marriages has been re-affirmed, and therefore this fight is undoubtedly to go on in the courts for the next year or more, while there is now this awkward special class of gays with legal marriages.
Look here to know where to protest in your neck of the woods as soon as the decision comes down, if that’s what you’re into.
