Why do straight people do condescending crap like this?
Two straight television personalities from the Netherlands kiss and touch each other’s asses in a patronizing attempt to fight homophobia. They do not appear to give any tongue.
It says: “See, it’s okay because even straight people will do it.” Well, fuck you. It’s okay when gay people do it. Putting on blackface doesn’t help with the acceptance of black people.
In the behind the scenes video everyone is smug and proud of themselves. Joking about how good a kisser the one is, laughing as they describe each other’s asses. But why is it funny? Because they’re straight! They are kissing each other, but they are both guys! Haha, see it’s funny because they aren’t gay!
When gay people kiss, they mean it. And they get beaten up for it.
One of these douchebags is quoted as saying, “I think we have done this for more open discussion of [homosexuality].” “I hope we can show people that [it’s] just two men on a picture.”
What a fucking asshole. Being gay is not just two men on a picture. Being gay is people living their lives, not a frat house game of spin the bottle.
Last week this video came out pretending to be a ‘social experiment.’
Two apparently straight guys pretend to be a gay couple cowering on a subway while another straight guy shouts homophobic shit at them. The idea is to see if any strangers will stand up for the sad, helpless gay guys.
How about this for a social experiment: have one of the gay guys stand up to the homophobe and punch him in the fucking face. Then see how people react.
You want to show it’s okay to be gay?
Get on your knees and put a cock where your mouth is.
This is a fine example of white privilege
Oh good grief! Lighten up you bunch of morons!
You do realize that the two men in the first one were hired for a gay magazine and photographed by gay men?
Honestly that is no different than g4p models. except g4p models- like those on SC are worshiped like gods.
The second are just two jackasses.
let it be
If you give someone else the power to validate your humanity, you give them the power to take it away. Straight people, and many gays, don’t get it. It’s not their right to validate who I am.
are you too stupid to recognize when straight allies are helping the cause of equality?
Objectively, how did this at all help the cause of equality? I’m genuinely asking, as while this wasn’t exactly hateful, I don’t see how it was terribly helpful either.
Are you too stupid to realize projects like this are disempowering? It sends the message that gays are weak and helpless and need straight people to protect them. And how, exactly, does two straight guys laughing about kissing each other help the cause of equality?
LGBT people like all groups, especially minority groups, benefit greatly from having allies in the majority community. It helps bring about equality more quickly. IMO, if you can’t see that, you are blind to reality.
Yup, stunts like this desexualize what it means to be gay. it’s called homoSEXUAL for a reason!
