The Filmmaker Noam Gopnick is tired of the fascist imagery at pride events — the firefighters with their hoses on, the police barracades, the military outfits. Responding to the historical discord between police officers and homos, Gopnick says:

I can’t think of a more perfect example of co-optation than police presence at Pride. Instead of going against the flow, Pride was going with the flow.

And just how does Gopnick propose going “against the flow”? Should pride marches run counter-clockwise? More importantly, comparing cops to Hitler is stupid. Don’t do that. In conclusion: enjoy the hot bodies, ignore the failed attempt at meaning.
