Porn star Ray Dexter has announced his official retirement from studio porn with the help of a mini-documentary from Davey Wavey and the porn studio Himeros. Published earlier this week, the 6-minute doc features Ray getting into the details of his porn departure, what it was like having an absent father, and the realities of being a gay Asian porn star.
While the popular performer has shot a variety of scenes with studios like PeterFever and Himeros that date back to 2019, Ray is probably most known for his popular OnlyFans, JustForFans, and social media accounts. Across all platforms, the 25-year-old has nearly a combined 400,000 followers with most of those coming from his NSFW Twitter – a page we have featured many times in our Social Circle Jerks.
In his mini-doc, now available on Himeros and on Davey Wavey’s YouTube page, Ray starts the video off by stating that he recently hasn’t been “into the industry” or his “work as much.” The performer also mentions that a big part of why he’s deciding to leave the industry is to “focus on having a more stable relationship and finding a boyfriend.”
Ray continues the doc by discussing his father not being around as he grew up, why the absence of a dad feeds into his preferences for older daddy types, and how he eventually wants to have a kid of his own and “be the dad” he never had. The later part of the video then gets into the sexual assumptions people make about gay Asian men and the realities of being an Asian gay porn star.
“Most people see gay Asian boys as, you know, submissive, bottom, not dominant, but I came out as a top. I’m hung. I’m sort of like the unicorns that they’ve been waiting for,” Ray reveals. “Even though people praise me for being in the industry and having representation at the end of the day, people are still more interested in seeing the bearded muscle white dude fuck on camera rather than me. Any person of color has to work twice as hard in order to make the same amount as our white counterparts.”
The now-retired porn star closes out the doc by saying that he’s blossomed since he’s started porn, he now has a voice, and that he’s a “Ray” of sunshine.
“I really don’t know what’s next for me,” Ray says. “Ultimately, this is my last video shoot, but we’ll see.”
