Monday Minute News: Demure star Jools, the DNC in Chicago, and Madonna's birthday in Italy.

Monday Minute: From Demure Dems to Mindful Madonna

Even though we tried to make the summer weekend last forever, it’s back to the grind(r) for another Monday. Here are four headlines to keep you in the know this week.

The Most Demure TikTok Trend

Beauty influencer Jools Lebron started a TikTok trend last week that shows no signs of slowing down. The trans content creator made a video telling the divas how they need to be more professional at work, and it took off! It’s instantly quotable, and you know the gays when something is camp and quotable. Chances are this week, someone in your circle or a famous person you follow has talked about being “demure” and “mindful”. Thanks to the success of this video, Jools can now pay for her transition. Folks online are saying Brat summer is over and it’s all about a demure fall.

From Dunkin to Drunkin

I know I just mentioned it being a demure fall, but it’s hard to be demure when you’re pounding spiked Dunkin’ on your morning commute. Spice pumpkin drinks have become a sort of autumn joke in recent years. Nothing says you’re basic like the love of a spiced pumpkin drink as the temperatures cool. But now the joke is on us because Dunkin’ is stepping up the spiced pumpkin game with a boozy twist on this fall favorite. The 12oz cans will be sold in four packs with an ABV of 6% — just enough to pregame work on Monday morning.

The Democrats Take Over Chicago

This week is the Democratic National Convention in Chicago. The four-day televised convention begins Monday, with speeches from President Biden and Hillary Clinton. The week continues with political heavy hitters like President Barack Obama, President Bill Clinton, and Speaker Nancy Pelosi. Then, on Wednesday, America hears from VP candidate Tim Walz. And on Thursday, we get the big speech from the historic presidential candidate and our current VP, Kamala Harris.

Madge, Matthew, and Phil D

Lots to report from the world of celebrity news, though nothing all too major. 5 people including doctors and a former personal assistant have been charged in the untimely passing of Friends star Matthew Perry. Legendary TV talk show host Phil Donahue lost his battle with a long illness at 88. He’s survived by his wife of 44 years, actress Marlo Thomas. Leo queen Madonna celebrated her 66th birthday this weekend at Italy’s $2,000-a-night resort Positano’s Villa TreVille. The eternal material girl rang in the new year with her family and rumored boyfriend, soccer stud Akeem Morris.

    1. Oh Hey Peter!! You should try the drink!! If you’d like to try it, then you should!! And please report back to all of us so we know how you enjoyed it!! I’m waiting with baited breath!!

    2. The whole “Demure” trend is as shallow as the people who advocate it. Next month they’ll be on to something equally inane.
