The trial is in it’s fifth day–porn star and star witness Brent Corrigan testified on Friday, and today jurors listened to recordings made by Corrigan and boyfriend Grant Roy while wearing a wiretap on a nude beach, and in a restaurant in San Diego in April 2007.
Cuadra is expected to testify in his own defense any day, but right now, via here! and the Advocate, we bring you the Cuadra episode, in 5 parts, from the here! Networks documentary Everything You Ever Wanted to Know About Gay Porn Stars… *but were afraid to ask, which originally aired last fall. In it, Cuadra talks, at great length, via prison payphone, to filmmaker John Roecker.
We’ll say that the shit needed some editing. We don’t actually care about every sigh that this kid makes–it’s a sordid and gripping story, but he obviously isn’t fessing up to murder in this phonecall, and he’s not the most fascinating character. But for those who can’t get enough of this real life gay episode of Law & Order: Special Victims Unit, be our guest. Listen all the way through, and take in the Ken Burns-on-acid style of filmmaking.
Clip 1… in which Cuadra chats about his childhood, being in the Marines and telling his mom and step-dad about being gay.
Clip 2… in which he talks about his first boyfriend, who helped him get into escorting, and describes the day he got arrested for murder.
Clip 3… in which he talks about shooting his first scene, and how he chose to go without a pseudonym.
Clip 4… in which he talks about the SWAT team raiding his house and describes his first days in prison.
Clip 5… in which he talks about having his trial occur in a conservative county in Pennsylvania, and the difficulties he had in the months leading up to it.
