CNN Couldn’t Differentiate Between Sex Toys And Arabic on ‘ISIS Flag’

No … it wasn’t Arabic or “gobbledygook.” They were butt plugs and dildos. Network proclaims ‘Isis Flag Spotted At Gay Pride Parade’ as CNN comes to mean Convincingly Noting Nonsense.

CNN’s Lucy Pawle was leaving her office in London Saturday during their Pride celebration to see what she thought was an ominous character waving the ISIS Flag. Like any good reporter, she started taking pictures and called in her story. Unlike a good reporter, she did not check her facts — and neither did anyone else at CNN.

Following a week with so many headlines most news outlets were struggling to cover them all, CNN quickly devoted an entire seven minute segment which included Pawle, network anchor Suzanne Malveaux and even dragged in terrorism expert Peter Bergen. Evidently, it never occurred to anyone that ISIS is – ahem – too busy throwing gay people off buildings to march in our parades. Despite actually realizing this was not the actual flag, Pawle expressed her chagrined self-congratulations:

“If you look at the flag closely it’s clearly not Arabic, in fact it looks like it could be gobblygook (gibberish). But it’s very distinctively the ISIS flag. Anyway, I seem to be the only one who spotted this, and none seems to be raising any questions or pointing it out.”

It took the internet all of about 30 seconds to raise some questions and point some things out …
