That Porn Performer Who Tested HIV Positive Has Now Tested HIV Negative

So, the first test was a false positive? Good. Unfortunately, AHF and everyone else who likes to capitalize on the drama of HIV in porn and resulting calls for industry wide production shutdowns (by the way, not a single gay porn studio in California has ever shut down production in the wake of recent HIV scares) already seized on the opportunity to make their futile, misguided cases for mandatory condoms and testing in porn.

Today’s press release from Free Speech Coalition:

CANOGA PARK, Calif. – Free Speech Coalition (FSC) announced today some important news for the industry. An HIV test for “Patient Alpha,” administered by an APHSS.org testing facility, has been returned with negative results.

Recognizing the importance of accurate information being presented to the industry and media, FSC stresses that while test results indicate a negative result for the patient, follow-up testing is appropriate in this case.

“This is good news for the primary patient, the industry will continue to be abundantly cautious as we try to nail down the reasons for what now appears to have been a false positive result on a previous test,” FSC Executive Director Diane Duke said. “After discussion with our medical expert, he has advised that it would be appropriate for production to resume and the focus of attention brought to those who had worked with the performer. That group is already receiving care.”

“FSC/APHSS.org will narrow the circle of caution to focus our concern on the group of people who had worked with the performer,” Duke continued. “Our prayers and utmost empathy go out to the performer in what has been a very difficult period.”

FSC called for an industry-wide precautionary moratorium on production last Sunday, after reports of a preliminary HIV positive test result for an adult performer in Florida. The performer in question and the adult industry were demonized as rumors and misinformation spread like wildfire. But recent developments imply that industry standards are working.

Duke continued, “Industry self-regulation and best practices are alive and well in the adult entertainment industry – and they work. We fully understand that it is vitally important for the adult performers have a place to go that is safe, trusted and transparent.”

  1. Each gay porn studio must have their own policy on testing and hiring though.
Mason Wyler wasn’t renewed because of his status. Yet I know some companies including Falcon use positive guys.
I would assume for their own legal protection/liability, any company would require status proof from their actors.
So who bans positive guys and who doesn’t?

    1. I really doubt any studio would have an offical policy on record as to whether they hire positive performers or not.
It would be safe toassume it’s more of a don’t ask, don’t tell scenario.

Mason Wyler had his status publicly outed, so if this didnt happen, to this day i’m doubtful we would know.
Also, studio’s are avoiding him because of how public his status is. Those same studio’s probably always hire postive performers.

  2. The commenters seem to be totally confused. The article refers to the straight side of porn exclusively, which utilizes responsible testing to control any HIV outbreak or spread. The gay side, unfortunately, is unregulated with predictable consequences.

    1. It’s actually about the G4P/Bi performers that jump back and forth between the gay and straight side! It’s getting more difficult for them to do so – mainly because of scenarios like this! In straight porn the women are the stars and if they wont work with you – you’re done! There’s been a lot of that in straight porn – which is why all the BUNDLE sites (NDS, JCM, CF, Reality Kings, Bang Bros…) offer the pussy site – so they (the “Gay Pron Studio”?!)have control over the women and keep there prized “straight?” gay porn actors.

I dont’ see it getting any easier! These women are going to make it extremely difficult to cross-over.

  3. Which companies hire HIV+?
    Which companies don’t?
As a poz guy, I’d like to support the ones that do, and avoid the ones that don’t.
    Zach, please let us know!

  4. Why don’t you do a story about the number of HIV+ gay porn stars?
Although some positive guys famously claim they’re retiring to become mainstream actors, all the companies still use positive guys.
Most often they pair them up with one another. This includes multiple “Exclusives.”
And of course, most of the bareback guys are +.

    1. Scott, You sound like a guy with inside information and if what you are saying is true then everything is driven by greed and the hell with someone’s health. I don’t beleive you need to shut the industry down by any means but there should be required to wear protection at all times when doing porn. But the value of life in todays society seems to have left our culture as a whole. And I don’t care to hear about tests and I do believe they should be required but if condoms were required at all times would help eliminate the possibility even more of someone passing a desease of any type from one person to the next. Can’t control what they do in the personal life but you can make sure that every precaution is taken when filming porn. But again, as long as the greedy exist money will always trump a persons life in the end especially in the porn world gay or straight.

    2. You know, as long as those guys want to keep their health status private, it’s their own business. As long as they disclose to potential partners & take serious precautions, they get no judgment from me. As for public disclosure, how would you like someone to rifle through your medical records?
