The Sword’s Selected Drag Queen Holiday Classics

Though our favorite bit of seasonal YouTubery this year may still be Reese Rideout’s shirtless rendition of the Chimpmunks’ ‘All I Want for Christmas,’ please enjoy the following hand-curated selection of Sword Drag Holiday Classics.

Kiki & Herb – “Smells Like Reindeer Spirit”

We begin with this now classic from the holiday show Kiki & Herb began doing in 1999.  The video is c/o the illegal bootleg stylings of ihatebunnies on YouTube (from a Joe’s Pub performance in Nov. 2006). Be warned the camerawork is a little shaky, and Kiki (Justin Bond) breaks into a 3-minute monologue about “the animals.”

Jackie Beat’s ‘Santa’s Baby’

We love a good tranny spoof of ‘Santa Baby’ anyday, especially one that devolves into ‘Hey, Santa raped me!’

Rupaul’s ‘Santa Baby’

So, who’s the scary ghetto tranny alter-ego who keeps popping up from the bottom of the screen>

Sandy Shorts and Doug Workmaster’s ‘Sleigh Ride’

The track is Steve and Edie, and the occasion of this video was an elaborate black-lit Christmas party in 2001 thrown by San Francisco’s Gay Glo Troupe, in someone’s living room.

Bette Davis Does ‘Feliz Navidad’

Jimmy James, a drag impersonator who used to do Marilyn Monroe on national television but now, as he gets on in years, does Bette Davis in Provincetown, put together this little montage of Bette Davis clips set to a track of him as her singing the Spanish-language Xmas classic.

British Trannies’ ‘Last Christmas’

This little bit of wonderment–probably made in a mall, and with the predictable refrain “Last Christmas you gave me the clap…”–features a pile of trannies from TrannyShack UK at the SohoRevue Bar.

Hedda Lettuce’s ‘A Christmas Carol’

A short film of sorts, made in 1995, which also features Varla Jean Merman as Tiny Timma.

Frosty the Pervert

This awkwardly bawdy little ditty comes to us via North Carolina’s Crystal Chameleon.

Australian Trannies do “Walking Around in Women’s Underwear”

Sydney queens Mitzi Macintosh, Carmen Geddit and Farren Heit (what the hell kind of drag names are these?) bring some Xmas cheer to our less critical brethren Down Under.

John Roberts’ ‘The Christmas Tree’

And we will never, NEVER get tired of this one.

The Christmas Tree (the Remake)

A ‘remake’ some other dude made–yes, John Roberts is that famous.

Dawn Davenport’s Cha Cha Heels

And we close with this wondrous moment of modern holiday cinema — from John Waters’ 1974 masterwork, Female Trouble.
