With Presets Headlining Folsom Street Fair, Can Skinny Legged Chaps Be Far Behind?

Or maybe not that different: both groups drink cheap beer, wear black
pants and mirrored aviators, fetishize European dance music, employ the
alt-prefix and wear attract mates via beards and mustaches.

San Francisco’s Folsom Street Fair celebrates it’s 25th anniversary this September and is starting too look more like a leather Coachella. Retro acts like Berlin and the English Beat and will appear next to indie darlings like the Presets and the Shiny Toy Guns during the weekend long party with twenty-eight performers on three stages. Oh, and Julie Brown. Everybody run.

The leather community has long wrung it’s pale hands over the lack of new blood, but it’s found some unlikely fans in the perpetually unfazed world of alt-rock fans. We spotted a large number of fixed-gear bike enthusiasts at this year’s Dore Alley piss-fest, but come September, we wouldn’t be surprised to see the Kaffiyeh enter the hankie code lexicon.
