So here we have, of the ten, three who we can confirm are HIV positive; of the three two are dead, one alive whose sanity is up for debate. For me, the issue bigger than who is HIV-positive, is why are so many of these men playing with fire in so many self-destructive ways, and how can we change the industry so that, that isn’t the case? There has to be (call me a blind idealist!) a healthy way – mentally and physically – to be doing gay porn.
I agree…. Obviously we can’t pretend that some men doing porn don’t have serious problems with mental illness or drug use (or usually a combination of the two). I know a few of the guys shown above (who are still alive) and they’re batshit crazy. They are simply not capable of making sound choices regarding their own health and well being. I recently moderated a discussion about whether gay porn is our educator, indicator, or both. So my viewpoint is fresh in my mind.
If you believe that it’s not gay porn’s responsibility to teach gay sexual habits, YOU’RE WRONG. PARTIALLY.
For in regards to safety and respect, it’s the responsibility of PARENTS to teacher their children what type of sex to have.
