I’ve avoided posting the vast majority of the never-ending YouTube series that is “Steam Room Stories” for the simple reason that it’s never funny, insightful, hot, or anything.
Yes, some of the dudes in it have nice bodies, and they’re sitting together in towels, which is the ONLY reason the series has garnered over 29 million views according to West Hollywood-based production company Cinema 175 who, by the way, are still making tedious gay indie films like the kind they made in the 90s when gay indie film was a thing.
And, sure, gay web series are everywhere, and these guys are lucky to make money at it Steam Room Stories turns a profit, hence it won’t ever die. But is it too much to ask that they try to say something worth saying, or actually make me laugh sometimes? Or show me some dick?? (They admitted they’re all wearing underwear in this shill piece for Andrew Christian two weeks ago.)
This week’s episode has a straight guy and a gay guy (they may as well both be straight, and probably are) discussing the difference between “straight-hot” and “gay-hot,” which is the kind of conversation that only two people with high-school educations in West Hollywood would have.
“Coming from a gay guy, [Gerard Butler is] not hot,” says the supposed gay one.
“How can he not be hot?” asks the straight one.
“Not Gerard Butler in 300, rom-com Gerard Butler… pair him with Katherine Heigl, and prepare to watch your cock shrink.”
Then they try to say that dude on the right, the gay one, isn’t gay-hot enough to attract a gay guy, which makes absolutely no fucking sense.
So, again, thanks for wasting three minutes of my life, Steam Room Stories. Get a real writer.
