It’s a trend about as old as Catholic schools and going steady: ‘good girls’ who only give blow jobs or take it up the butt because they think this will keep them pure. Also, they kind of dig the back-door loving and are telling all their friends how cool it is.
To wit:
Anal sex statistics indicate that a generational change has occurred, where people born in the 1980s and later may be more comfortable admitting to or showing interest in anal sex. Silverberg attributes interest in the behavior among heterosexuals, in part, to the proliferation of pornography in the 1990s.
Blame pornography! (Wtvr.) But the whole porn thing may be influencing hetero adults too, as NY Mag reported two years ago. Also:
A well-publicized 2005 study using data from the National Longitudinal Study of Adolescent Health found that teenagers who take “virginity pledges” were more likely to engage in oral or anal sex than nonpledging teens and less likely to use condoms once they became sexually active.
The upsetting part, though, is that it seems these few Bush years of dwindling sex education have left a lot of teens about as ignorant as their grandmothers were when it came to STDs. Anecdotal evidence shows that along with increased acceptance of anal sex among teens, there is a common belief that it is, somehow, less risky to have unprotected anal sex than unprotected vaginal sex.
One of the sex researchers quoted notes that a popular question she is asked by college students is, “If I want it, or like it, does it mean I’m gay?” One would assume these are boys asking her this question–though ABC doesn’t say–and that this must mean, along with the girls, straight boys are getting a lot more comfortable getting stuff stuck up their butts.
Just so long as they keep sexting, we’re pretty sure this generation is going to be the absolute greatest.
