[Upper middle class urban] white gay men may not face much discrimination … for them lowering their tax rate or continuing to fight the war in Iraq may be more important … For some gay men in particular, LGBT rights have become less important because they’ve benefited from our successes.”

Frank says he understands their desire to define their own most pressing issues, even if he disagrees with it. Not so with the tranny delegation, he says, who doesn’t seem able to understand that he can’t make a social nerd into the king-queens of the prom in one night.

I am disappointed in the transgender community. They seem to think that if Nancy Pelosi and myself, George Miller and a few others waved a magic wand we could deliver it. … We’d make even more progress if the transgender community was willing to do the hard political work. And not, frankly, think they can just talk a few leaders into handing this to them.

Maybe they spend too much time in the bathroom. Or chopping wood. Or going on Oprah.
