I'm offended!
Actually, no, I'm not.
Cybersocket magazine's recent list of "40 Amazing Porn Stars" doesn't include a single black performer, but writing a list that doesn't include a black person doesn't necessarily make you a racist (as the usual suspects are claiming in the comments here and here), it just makes you a bad list-writer. Or, most likely in this case, it just reveals the writer's personal taste (which apparently isn't very well-informed; how could he not include Austin Wilde, who's had arguably the most successful year of any porn star, black or white?).
Still, here's the thing about lists: Lists always piss people off. Lists are often wrong. Lists usually leave people out (e.g. Wilde, Chris Porter, Derrek Diamond, Conner Habib, etc.). That's the nature of lists. There's only so much room! Throwing the word "racism" around over a list of gay porn stars is an insult to people who have actually been victims of racism, and that's what's really offensive here.
Also, if not talking about black people makes you a racist, I guess I'm a racist because none of the stories on the front page of The Sword right now are about black porn stars.
And, just last year, Cybersocket's "Top 50 Porn Stars" included Diesel Washington and Eddie Diaz. So, I guess they weren't racist in 2009.

thing about porn is your amazing is my yawn and vice versa. I buy porn for the bottoms in the
scene period. The tops might as well have bags on their heads.
That being said it's ridiculous to dismiss the black performers disgust there is no black out of forty
names.
Anyway as one of the guys who complains about gay porn's lack of color, I'm going to let my cash speak for me. Give me the rainbow and I'm yours.
Ha! He's on that list! You have to stand back here - the quote on the list is along the lines of he is the "only white performer in the primarily black and latin studio". The guy practically is saying the black and latinos might as well be furniture.
Nameless.
They got a white boy!
However, the fact that this raises concerns for some should not be oversimplified and poo poohed. Some of the angry response is legitimate - based on real experience and the realities of the porn industry...shit nearly all of entertainment: White is right. It's best to be light. Everyone likes skin that is bright. It's the reality. I've accepted it. I still love Black men...and yes Latino men and White men as well.
But this is porn. I'll reserve my take-it-to-the- man energy for the fuckers in Washington who are firing gay soldiers, stealing our money, and denying equal rights to gay Americans. One request though. Please stop featuring Diesel Washington as your go-to black porn star. If at any point between now and Dec. you feature news about Black gay porn, how bout you go to that fine ass Race Cooper, or the beautiful Scott Alexander?
Re: "Gay porn? Who takes that shit serious?"
Perhaps you didn't read the entire post. Perhaps you got stuck on the parts that raised your ire - and didn't think it necessary to read the whole thing. I'll cut and paste what I wrote in response to your comment.
I said: "But this is porn. I'll reserve my take-it-to-the- man energy for the fuckers in Washington who are firing gay soldiers, stealing our money, and denying equal rights to gay Americans."
If black gang bang porn was the only issue then I wouldn't even post a comment. Color bias is not just in porn....it's in every entertainment medium....and it's not just a lack of black people - asians don't even exist according to TV and movies.
Acknowledging racism is now almost as bad as being racist! Critical thinking allows me to hold more than 1 thought at once - I can acknowledge that no...not everything is about race - I did that in my post. I can also acknowledge that some things are. I don't claim to be a victim but I have eyes and ears. And for the kids that are most certainly going to tell me to stop whining or that it's not that serious - kiss my ass (in advance).
