If it seems like some of the nominated titles were released two years ago, it’s because they were! Usually held in March, this year’s GayVN Awards were delayed and will now be held on September 24th at San Francisco’s Castro Theatre. Naked Sword is co-sponsoring the show, so I suppose I should tread lightly when it comes to critiquing the nominations, right? Uhh…
Tied with 13 nominations each are Lucas Entertainment and Raging Stallion, followed by Titan with 9 nods. Brent Corrigan, Steve Cruz, Brent Everett, Will Parker, Spencer Reed, Phillip Aubrey, Alexsander Freitas, Damien Crosse, Francesco D’Macho, and Tony Buff all received multiple nominations as well.
There are, as usual, many stars who were overlooked (Samuel Colt, Austin Wilde, and CHRIS PORTER??, to name a few), but at least the GayVNs aren’t racist, as Race Cooper and the cast of Black Balled 7 were all nominated.
Other fun facts: One nominee is deceased (Shane Risk in Taken), bankruptcy-plagued Colt is up for Best Marketing/Company Image, and The Sword is up for Best Blog/Gossip Site against…Towleroad?
The Best Personality nominees are expected soon(ish), as those noms will serve as co-hosts with Alec Mapa on the 24th (so don’t start freaking out just yet, Diesel). UPDATE: The Best Personality nominees have just been announced, and they are: Chi Chi LaRue, Sister Roma, and Jason Sechrest. Congratulations to all three queens.

The fans who go to these things go to see all the stars in one venue… The GayVn’s should have focused more on making it a successful event and instead of cutting this show down to nothing. I mean companies barely take these things seriously and its not like winning an award for a model makes them any more profitable…to be honest winning awards for models is more like a curtain call. How Many “best newcomers” even make it to the next award show?

Once again GayVN’s show their contempt (mutually shared I might add) of WebStudios, The behemoths Sean Cody and Corbin Fisher with huge numbers of subscribers and the HIGHEST SCENE RATES in the biz are ignored. Granted both company’s also ignore GayVN.
