From the Dungeon to the Mayor’s Office

Earl Rynerson, a 56-year-old former lieutenant colonel in the Air Force, is one of two gay men who are running against Ft. Lauderdale’s unpopular current mayor, a bigoted tool named Jim Naugle.

Rynerson wants to “polish up the city.” But apparently he also enjoys polishing up leather slings with his luby back-side. This week, Fox News reported that Rynerson’s credit card bill includes payments to the International Masters Association, which “unites the Leather community online and [brings] Masters and slaves together.”

The association praises the notion of the “Old Guard” leatherman,” an “idealized hero” like “Valhalla, the Viking man’ or  “the Knights of the middle ages.” Hot. Ft. Lauderdale is one of the gayest cities in the South, but even the trashiest Floridians may be weary of Rynerson and his creative sex life. Leather Daddy Earl Rynerson Runs for Mayor of Ft. LauderdaleSo Rynerson has shrugged off his ties to the association, comparing the web site to Youtube and Myspace. “There’s nothing pornographic,” he says.

Citizens are raising concerns about Rynerson’s BDSM fetish, but they’re not asking the most important question: is he a master or a slave? If he’s the former, then there should be no problem. As President Obama told us on inauguration day (and we’re paraphrasing here): “A good leader in the mayor’s office should be the master of his Valhalla Viking dungeon.”
