Update: Nick Moretti Says There Was No Physical Abuse

Nick Moretti wrote about the “abusive relationship” on his amazing blog:

My heart is still mending from the recent hurt it received…I don’t think I’ve ever been treated so badly by someone when my intentions were pure. I didn’t ask for anything back except respect. I didn’t get that. What I did get was betrayal, abuse and disrespect. And still I loved the fucker. Even after round 15 of abuse… I just wanted to see him happy.

Soon after reading this entry, I ran into Luke Riley at the local pig trough and asked him what happened. Nick “punched me in the head at a nightclub,” Luke told me. “Really hard. Three times.” Update: Nick contacted me to say that what Luke told me at a bar when we were both drunk has no bearing on reality. He added:

First of all, though we had our arguments, there was never any physical abuse from either side and there were no fistfights. Luke is a beautiful boy with a load of talent…He’s also very young and can be a handful at times. Nothing unusual about that.

Second, we were never boyfriends. As Luke like to put it, “We were talking.” Kids today. I’m not even sure what that means! Due to our age difference it really would not have been wise to commit to anything more than that. There was no way we could have had a long term relationship. In the end, I was just trying to be a big brother… OK, a daddy to him, and to encourage him to use his amazing gifts to take his life to an even higher level. He’s got a great future ahead of him. I’m glad Luke is still part of my life and I know he feels the same. We are both looking forward to our day together shooting for Steel Mill Media on Saturday.

It will be interesting to see how these two studs’ drama-ridden past translates into the physically abusive porn shoot this Saturday. Is ex sex the new make-up sex? Think about that while you look at these two pictures of Nick and Luke at Butterfly World.

  1. Scott, to be honest–although they are both friends of mine, their relationship (or lack thereof) doesn’t really involve me (or you, or thesword). What does involve me is a “news” (the word used loosely) source saying that my shoots are “abusive”. However you spin it, that borders on libel.

And I must have not made myself clear about my comment regarding Erik Rhodes’ blog. There are a million stories a day in this business. A million. And the quality of the “news” source is what stories you choose to print–and how you present them. Allow me to quote from the article in question: “Take it away, emo girl!” and “…or you can catch him in the South Park clip below: [shows clip of Goth kid]”. Is it just me or is the author (also written by the author of this story) making light of Erik’s disturbing words? THAT is what I called CLASSY (and I was, of course, being sarcastic).

But the article on the deaths of Dustin Michaels & Todd Welch was tactful and touching (by Paul, the same author as this piece of crap article!) I guess I’m confused. Is the Sword a sleazy gossip rag or not? (my vote is still for sleazy)

  2. Sheesh, all these people with their panties in a wad. Seems like the best thing to do is just ask Luke Riley for a comment, that is, does he wish to retract what he told you? His quote, after all, is the genesis of the article. And Dire Callahan defending Erik Rhodes for constantly throwing out his fantasies of “going Virginia Tech,” whether it’s at his former gym or on people he feels aggrieved by, well, that’s VERY classy. Thirty-two people were killed in that tragedy, assholes.

  3. As many of you now know, we shot Nick Moretti and Luke Riley on Saturday. During the shoot, Nick informed me that they both were mentioned (as well as Steel Mill Media, the owner of boundmuscle.com) in an article on TheSword located here. The article mentions Nick’s “abusive” relationship with Luke, and to quote the article, “see how these two studs’ drama-ridden past translates into the physically abusive porn shoot this Saturday.”

Steel Mill Media takes offense to this article for several reasons:

First, the article is sensationalist dribble. It is unfit to be shown on a page under the header “News”. It is not news. If it was news, then TMZ should be winning Pulitzer Prizes. The article takes what is essentially a non-story on Nick’s blog, makes an assumption of a relationship, and then makes the assumption that their relationship is “abusive”, and finally that the actors are using Steel Mill Media as an outlet to work out their “problems”. The author of this article just shat out a steaming pile of dead wrong under the guise of a lame “scoop”.

Both Nick Moretti and Luke Riley have worked for Steel Mill Media before (separately), and both are extremely professional and talented. I consider them to be friends of mine, and know much of the information of their lives first-hand. I called them for this shoot—they did not inquire or solicit to me that they had a desire to shoot together at this moment. If I had thought that there would have been any problem between the two of them, I obviously would not have put them together. Friends sometimes have fights, and they sometimes have miscommunications and hurt feelings—but to put an assumption in a public forum that the two are “abusive”—and furthermore are exploiting a professional relationship—is damaging to their character.

We did not hire them under the premise that they might still have some “angst” left in them, or to stir up bad blood between them. While it might have been savvy from a marketing aspect to have said something to that affect, in the end it makes for a terrible if not disastrous shoot—if their angsty abusive emo partnership ever existed. Especially in the kind of movies that we make, bringing your problems into the session is at the very least irresponsible and at worst A HOST OF FELONIES. They both used implements on each other that could be deadly if misused, so we at Steel Mill Media take grave offense at an article that even hints that we would knowingly allow—or even invite—such a situation. We take this very seriously.

Additionally, the author’s response to some criticism of his article: “And the Nick Moretti article I revised, but how the hell is BDSM not abuse? Hello…” This lies at the very heart of the problem that we have with the article–not only does it personally attack our actors, but correlates a consensual activity with “abuse”. Abuse is a word that conjures up images of child abuse and domestic violence, and it is a buzzword that rightfully ignites the anger of people who have experienced legitimate abuse. The word “abuse” is very similar to the word “rape” in the fact that neither word, by definition, is consensual. The author seems to throw the word “abuse” around rather liberally, but I doubt that he would call the rough sex appearing in films these days “rape”. Not only is the use of the word “abuse” incorrect, it is insulting to the industry. “Abuse” is a crime, and saying that Steel Mill Media films the “abuse” of actors is libelous. Again, we take this very seriously.

The end result of the shoot on Saturday? A complete success that could not have gone more smoothly. They both drove up in the same car. Both Luke and Nick dommed each other, and there was nothing more than raw talent and professionalism in their creative torments and agonized reactions. They exceeded my very high expectations , and our viewers can expect to see those scenes on boundmuscle.com starting in January.

We would ask that theSword apologizes to Nick and Luke and for a retraction of the article (and ironically removing this comment as well), but somehow I don’t think that will happen. If I am proven wrong and they do print something the least bit redeemable, then I’m sure it will fit nicely after the article espousing a morbid fascination of Erik Rhode’s blog thoughts on suicide. Stay Classy, TheSword!

  4. For the record…

Luke and I just drove 4 hours in my truck, spent the day filming 3 scenes together, and are now going to grab some dinner and drive 4 hours home. And no one was punched in the head. LOL

It’s better just to let it drop at this point. I’m glad to get attention from a popular blog. I’m NOT happy to be labeled an abuser from someone else’s drunken encounter at a bar. But let’s put it to rest and move on.

  5. This article is in such bad taste- I’m really disgusted with the author for posting it. I realize you’re running a gossip column on a porn site, but could you try to show *some* human decency?
