I previously reported on the anti-cruising law, masquerading as an anti-loitering law, which was declared to be unconsitutional by state legislators on three separate occasions, starting in 1983. But to this day, cops continue to lob the illegal statute at thousands of innocent gay men. One victim, for example, went to jail for flirting with a plainclothes cop. Another man got arrested because he told a plainclothes cop that he was hanging out in the park in order to meet men.

Finally, the New York Times reports that the U.S. Disctrict Judge Shira Scheindlin (pictured) is standing up for pervs on park benches after issuing a furious directive at Manhattan police officers on Monday:

The human toll, of course, has been borne by the tens of thousands of individuals who have, at once, had their constitutional rights violated and been swept into the penal system. More disturbing still, it appears the laws — which target panhandling, remaining in a bus or train station, and ‘cruising’ for sex — have been enforced against the poor and gay men.

She further defended we lovers of anonymous man-batter deposits by suggesting that the city hasn’t taken any action against these illegal arrests because the victims are gay men:

If 450 investment bankers had received tickets for unconstitutional laws in the last three years. I think the reaction to stop the problem would have been much swifter.

The next targets should be those cops who are using entrapment to arrest gloryhole queens. The judge should then go after bathhouse trolls who grope you before establishing eye contact.
