Exciting Kocis Murder Gets Boringer With Civil Suit

In short, Michael Kocis filed suit, the defendants did not respond, and thus Kocis won a default judgment of unspecified damages. Since Kerekes and Cuadra are already broke, the point is moot and removes most of the duo’s impetus to produce a tell-all memoir in which readers get the goods. However, a whole cottage industry of blogs has sprouted in the wake of the murders, each more eager than the next to discuss the non-news of the day. You might wonder how so many bloggers keep themselves entertained with such matters. So did we, so we checked in:

Harlow and Joe on Trial
“… so… unless something really weird happens… it looks like the trial’s right on schedule. I’ve also added a permalink to a previous post that lists the hotels/motels near the courthouse under “Useful Trial Resources”.”

A Murder Is Announced
BB, the erstwhile author of the “A Murder Is Announced” blog reveals that fliers were distributed in the neighborhood of  (original Kocis suspect and Cuadra pal) Brent Corrigan, saying “If you don’t want to die with your throat cut and 28 stab wounds to your chest, don’t piss off the people who live next door.” Interesting, right? We thought so too until he mentioned

“Nobody has seen said fliers. None of the neighbors are on the witness list. The SDPD knows nothing about this claim.”

Silence of the Chinchillas
“Well gang, it’s May 1, which means it is exactly 2 weeks until the one year anniversary of that most glorious day…Arrest Day! May 15…the day when cops in Virginia Beach swarmed around Harlow and Joe, and slammed their faces onto the hood of [that car]!”

El Mysterio
“I have always wondered if it was just a coincidence that Judge Conahan retired right before Joe and Harlow were arrested. Was that a calculated move to protect himself from the fallout of his prior ruling with regards to the murder victims criminal past.”

Kruezer at Night
In the KRUEZER VIEW, what’s really going on here is a courtroom extension of what’s been playing out for months on the various pro and anti Harlow and Joe blogs, several of whom have been attacking each other in a continuation of the extremely – and irrationally – personal blogosphere culture wars that have left many shaking their heads in amazement at what some people’s REAL agenda is…and who their backers and sources REALLY are.

Scintillating, no? We keep trying to follow the case, but we keep napping. Wake us when they make a movie of the week, would you?

  1. Chinchilla Man – You are exempt from my criticism, though I do think celebrating arrest day was a bit much. . .!

  2. I agree Will.

I am quite disgusted by some of these bloggers (wannabe journalists). The amusement they find in others troubles is sickening.

I wish you guys didn’t link them.

  3. Victor, that is an absurd criticism. If anything, this is pointing out the utter disrespect and self-aggrandizement of many of these blogs, bottom-feeding off the minutae of this matter and salivating in anticipation when it is NONE OF THEIR BUSINESS!

    I say Bravo!

  4. Did you forget that someone was brutally murdered here?? I like clever and I love snarky but this is just plain tacky. If I were a member of the Kocis family, I’d be sick to my stomach.

You guys are far too clever to have let this one slip by. :(
