The controversy over how Cybersocket Award-winners are determined and notified won’t be dying down anytime soon thanks to Austin Wilde’s inadvertent(?) slip during a pre-show interview with The Sword.

Hours later, Austin Wilde of course took home the award for Best Personality. Was this just a case of Austin Wilde being confident, or did he truly know he was going to win? Can you trust the Cybersockets? Can you trust Austin Wilde? Can you ever trust anyone again?

Maybe I’m completely wrong but yes, I think ” Cybersocket ” contacts people in advance and tell them they’ll win. If they don’t do it no one will go there. Do they offer a delicious and generous dinner? No…Is there an amazing show before or after the awards? No…Is everybody interested in Cybersockets? No…Is there a massive coverage by the media? No… so the only reason performers and others have to go there is to get their lame award.
Most low rent award shows just invite the winners. So I’m sure the planners made sure that performers were coming to participate by telling them they won in advance.
This strategy is a common practice.
Yeah, my guess is these award shows tell the winners beforehand that they’ll win, otherwise noone would show up… This isn’t just done in the adult industry though. The People’s Choice Awards are run the same way, and often they don’t even INVITE all the nominees, just the winners of each category.
On a side note: I’m amazed how people can gather so many negative aspects of AW’s personality just from this rather bland, average 1-minute video clip. And yeah, sure, he even looks horrible… keep telling yourself that.

no, it confirms his problems with the industry to begin with-the awards do not have a voting body. Anyone who is close with the sponsor or producers gets awards. It is a farse, it is more about having a group of porn performers in one place to draw attention and PR.
