The America Asia Express sightseeing tours began dropping off the
traveling voyeurs at 18th and Castro three months ago in order to allow
the curious mobs to photograph same-sex couples holding hands, waving
flags and drinking bubble tea.
“The tourists appear to have little regard for the neighborhood and its
residents,” says Rob Guite, another Castro resident, “[they] view the
stop as akin to visiting a zoo or other attraction where they are
entertained by exhibits or animals.”
While we’re oft-amused by the antics of deviants, we have to imagine that the back of Beck’s Motor Lodge offers more intriguing photo opportunities. After all, if we just wanted pictures of clones in Abercrombie, we’d ask Bruce Weber.
