Another HIV Case Temporarily Shuts Down California Porn Industry

A new case of a (straight) male performer testing positive for HIV has prompted another moratorium on porn shoots as all performers in the industry submit to new testing this week. The moratorium, called for the Free Speech Coalition (an industry trade group), affects all shooting, both gay and straight, and is the second such action this year.

As you all remember, there were two moratoriums in late August and early September after Cameron Bay and, subsequently, her boyfriend Rod Daily, both tested positive. It was believed that the infection likely took place off-set, and no one else appeared to be infected. A third performer around that time also tested positive in an unrelated case.

Prior to that, Men.com had its own brief company-wide moratorium in June after an unidentified performer there tested positive for HIV. It’s notable that Men.com is a condom-only studio, and the straight porn world does not use condoms at all, pretty much.

The latest case is being kept anonymous, but the test occurred at an industry testing center in Los Angeles. FSC spokesman Michael Stabile gave a statement saying, “We want to make sure every performer is safe, and this a precautionary measure to make sure they are. It’s the right thing to do in this case — to stop shooting.”

The FSC also noted on its blog that all recent “first-generation contacts” of the infected performer are getting tested this week, and the results of those tests will be announced this week.

Needless to say, Fox News is on the case, and this will once again stir some debate about condoms, porn, and the risks performers take by being in the industry.

    1. This is the 3rd performer to test positive who did NOT contract it while doing bareback gay porn–So, tell me again why we are blaming gay porn?

    2. Because porn is fantasy so viewers want to watch things that they don’t, won’t or can’t do in thier own sex lives.

Additionally it is hotter to watch (except for those who would rather think about the health of the models and stuff like that , which is really none of their damn business)

It’s none of the viewers business because the actors did not go into porn so that people could speculate and get nosy about thier health and sex life. Viewers would not like it if all of the sudden a porn star showed up at thier door demanding to know thier HIV status or making guesses about it.

To those who just can’t watch without worrying about the actors well being then I suggest they stop watching bareback porn or porn all together. All bareback movies are labeled as such so they can’t say they did not know it was bareback. Or is it some just need to have something to bitch about and post nasty comments about?
