AIDS Healthcare Foundation Files Complaint In Calfornia Over Bareback Gay Porn Movies Not Produced In California

After its successful yet unenforceable campaign to make condoms mandatory in L.A. County via Measure B (thanks to help from fugitive prostitute and notorious liar Derrick Burts), AIDS Healthcare Foundation has a new target within the porn industry: Treasure Island Media.

AHF says they’ll file formal safety complaints with Cal/OSHA (the agency responsible for enforcing California’s occupational and public safety laws) over TIM’s condomless movies next week. And just like the last time a Cal/OSHA complaint was filed against TIM, nothing will happen.

Treasure Island was already fined by Cal/OSHA for making bareback movies back in 2010 and, surprise, they’re still making bareback movies in 2013. That AHF spends the bulk of its time in the press going after the porn industry—where instances of HIV transmission in the past decade can be counted on one hand—with unenforceable complaints and measures is something of a disservice to the hundreds of thousands of people living with HIV/AIDS it was allegedly founded to help.

And let’s not forget that AHF itself profited from the sale of bareback porn, in case you had any doubts about whether or not to take anything they do seriously.

Further proof of AHF’s wheel-spinning stupidity? Their complaint to the state of California cites movies that weren’t produced in California.

AHF:

AHF will file new ‘Notice of Safety or Health Hazards’ complaints with Cal/OSHA (California’s Department of Industrial Relations, Division of Occupational Safety and Health), the state’s health and safety regulatory and watchdog organization, over the lack of condom use in adult films produced by Treasure Island Media, Inc., a Bay Area adult film production company that primarily serves and produces films for the gay market. […] AHF will support its current worker safety complaints with the submission of 11 Treasure Island Media, Inc. adult DVDs filmed under various T.I. brands in which the performers do not wear condoms. AHF’s Cal/OSHA complaints will assert that the films demonstrate unsafe—potentially life-threatening—behavior in a California workplace, as the sexual acts filmed without participating performers using condoms depict the unprotected exchange of bodily fluids.

In support of its latest complaint to Cal/OSHA asserting that film sets where condoms are not used provide unsafe California work environments, AIDS Healthcare Foundation officials undertook a review and analysis of 11 adult films produced and/or distributed by Treasure Island Media, Inc. AHF will submit the DVDs to Cal/OSHA in support of its workplace safety complaint regarding these California film sets when it files the complaints early next week.

Film titles examined included:

Liam Cole’s Slammed (2012)
Park & Ride: A Max Sohl Sex Tape (2012)
Cheap Thrills Volume 3 (2011)
In the Flesh: A Liam Cole Video (2011)
What I Can’t See #3 (2011)
Breeding Season #2 (2010)
Raw Underground: Paris (2010)
Full Tilt: Liam Cole (2010)

It will be fun to see what Cal/OSHA does with this complaint, considering they have no jurisdiction over the majority of the titles named—unless of course “California workplace” and “California film sets” applies to all of Liam Cole’s films shot in London and, of course, the beloved California classic, Raw Undergound: Paris. Thanks for wasting everyone’s time as usual, AHF.

  1. Those HIV positive men in TIM flicks were positive long before they filmed for TIM, and many of your porn stars in condom porn are HIV positive as well, and once the camera is off, the condoms are off as well. If AHF really wants to help prevent HIV, they’d go after the real culprit of transmission. Drug Use and men not knowing their status.

    1. Exactly. People really fail to realize that it’s like they have blinders in. Lots of condom only stars are poz. When they escort what do they think is going on??

  2. To the writer ‘say what?’, maintaining the impossible goal of completely stopping hiv transmission is exactly what has kept hiv alive and well. Abstinence or condom-only sex simply don’t work. Never have, never will. Never. The fact is that we live in a time when simple medical prophylaxis (PrEP) taken by a neg man will keep him nearly as safe
from infection as a condom. Guess what ahf (which is funded by condom companies) viciously fighted against? Yep.
They stood ALONE among gay groups, hiv support groups and hiv researchers in telling people to say no to this astonishing medical development.

Why? Because condoms and hiv are the lifeblood of ahf. That’s all there is to it. While other organizations fight tooth and nail to end all of this, AHF fights to keep it going.

Rather than support PrEP they spent TWO MILLION DOLLARS to fight it. That alone is more obscene than anything Treasure Island Media has ever made. Or any other porn company, for that matter. TWO MILLION DOLLARS used, essentially, by an anti-hiv group to support the virus.

Further, denying that barebacking is now as real a culture as gay ever was is pure folly and ignorance. Gay men “of a certain age” (and I’m in that group, myself!) tend to put their heads in the sand and wish that all those beautiful young men could just control themselves, stop being impulsive, stop…being young.

But that’s not gonna happen. The facts are that PrEP works, condoms don’t. Men are going to bareback. The treatments for hiv are now utterly manageable and simple–one pill a day, take it with your vitamins!

I know, “Say What?”,I know. You and I are old coots. Our day is over. We knew a lot of men who died horribly. But for god’s sake, man, those days is ovah! You and AHF are just gonna have to let go and move on.

It got better. Let the young folks enjoy it. It’s their time.

    1. ” The treatments for hiv are now utterly manageable and simple – one pill a day, take it with your vitamins ! ” L.O.L. so in your opinion it’s ok became infected and have one disease that could become worst in the future and even aggravete others that you could get. Did you hear about deaths that occured due to ” aids complications “? Remember that AIDS is a virosis, virus can mute and men can lost control of it ( and we will come back to the same situation we faced in the 80’s…) When a person is known as an aids infected this person has to know that others will see he/she differently – even today, even in enlightened circles – this person will face prejudice because people tend to think that aids pacients get it when using drugs or for being sexually promiscuous ( Nomore in a transfusion, in a rape etc. )Who is the one that would like to be seen as a pariah ? Who is the one that doesn’t bother to live infected? Who is the one that hasn’t afraid of aids and its complications? And another important point: Who will pay the bills ?

      1. QUICK! Sniff Her Chair While It's Warm

They are the (S)TEA(D) PARTY of the gay porn community. They descended on this fucking place like Arianna Huffington shits up in here! They got Phelps Family on this topic!

  3. Your Mom barebacked. Your Grandma barebacked and every ancestor in your family tree barebacked. It is the natural form of sex and sexual expression for all mammals. If it really makes you throw up, I can confidently say, you sir have a mental problem and should probably look into counseling to get over your revulsion for normal human sex.

  4. There are a couple of things I’d like to see in my lifetime. The first would be a cure for AIDs, the second would be broad acceptance of LGBTs, and the third would be for gay men to stop trashing those that they view are “unattractive”. Treasure Island Media may film men that are less ” perfect ” as compared with say ” Titan “, but I tend to believe that the vast majority of us are not ” Titan Model Material “. Sexuality should be celebrated, and my moral compass may be quite different from yours ( TIM to me embodies horny men, dirty minded fellows – I’m glad they are around, even if in my real life I wouldn’t go there )

    1. What decent-minded person wouldn’t want there to be a cure for HIV/AIDS? But in the meantime, why not aim and stand for what is attainable–which is the end of new HIV transmissions? TIM–whatever you think of the type of men it features–embodies, to me and to many others, the unnecessary perpetuation of HIV.

    2. Okay. But you do realize that this conversation isn’t about how physically attractive TIM models are. Don’t you?

  5. Go for it, AHF. I’m for what you’re doing. TIM and everyone associated with it (which now includes Colby Keller and Dean Monroe) are trash.

  6. Yes, this is all paid for by taxpayers. The shame is AHF using an underfunded government agency as a tool in Michael Weinstein’s completely useless efforts to…to what? To stop AIDS? No, if he were really for that he wouldn’t have been the only person to battle PrEP (spending 2 million dollars in that fools effort). So he’s not against AIDS spreading. But what is he against? Porn, it seems. He works with the Pink Cross group, an anti-gay, anti-porn, anti-sex fundamentalist Christian group, and his primary funding is from…wait for it now…condom making companies.

Mr. “Marvel”, you are truly wrong, truly representative of everything that’s turned “gay culture” into a sad, disastrous nanny-state fearful group. You are of the past!

How to say this plainly, so you will understand “Marvel”…hiv is NOT a death sentence any more. AHF and Michael Weinstein are in it for the bucks and the attention and nothing else. They are flailing for publicity in hopes of scaring gay men into supporting them. Shame, shame, shame!

I don’t watch much porn anymore (quite old, I’m afraid!) but I’ll tell you if I did, I’d support men like Treasure Island Media and fight against the fearmongerers and “mother may I?” addicts the likes of Weinstein and AHF.

We have nothing to fear but fear itself! And fuddyduddies like Mr. “Marvel”.

  7. Treasure Island Media produces bareback porn in London and I think also in other cities ( other countries ). I heard that the company will start to work in Mexico City ( but I’m unsure about it ). They have the means to continue their productions.

  8. It would be very hard to ‘check’ and find someone who got “sick” from watching your porn. Although, I know many who vomit at a viewing of it. So, that is your defense. You pretend that no young impressionable mind could conceivably learn a bad, enticing practice while viewing (perhaps repeatedly) your films, carry it out at some point, and get sick. And at, I don’t know, age 15 when he viewed it, he didn’t even really know it was TIM that he was watching. Hell, he didn’t even know it was illegal to watch it for free. By age 16/17, you guys have taught him everything he think he needs to know to me a gay man. You keep going back to parents, that’s what all manufacturers of iffy products like to stand-by…blame the parents. Cigarette makers pull that, too. Again, parents aren’t like to teach boys about gay sex and know little to nothing about pirated videos. I laugh at the idea of my parents having either of those conversations with me.

And to say no one gets ‘sick’ from your films is like trying to nail jell-o to the wall. It is indeed very to verify. Let’s say a drug manufacturer hypothetically comes out with a reflux drug, and later there is some evidence of heart palpiations as a anecdotal side effect. A few people die with heart palpiatations. It can be very difficult to substantiate whether these deaths were the result of the reflux pill or a pre-existing heart issue. In the past, the FDA would have sided with the latter. More recently,, the FDA is going the more conservative route and often taking these drugs off the market or changing the labels and making them last resort drugs. My point is you have a corporate responsibility to those you serve to be transparent and do the ethical thing. Quit hiding behind parents as an excuse, avoid utilizing so much fantasy in your marketing rhetoric for these ‘educated’ adults whom you presume are your audience and tell the truth about your models and their status, and let people know what your safety/testing procedures really are. That done, hey, thee gay ‘trailer trash’ mentality is not my cup of tea, but people are welcome to it.

    1. I wonder how many gay teens watch TIM videos. For me these two somehow don’t go together. When I first started watching porn I watched Eurocreme, BelAmi and Falcon. Another point: how many young gay guys do you know that don’t know that bareback sex can lead to an HIV infection and other STI’s? I live in the Netherlands and maybe Dutch gay teens are better educated about the dangers of bareback sex. But I think that knowledge about bareback sex/HIV is something that comes with the gay territory and that the “insufficient education about HIV and STI’s” card is used by many people as an excuse for justifying one’s behaviour.

Let us suppose that it is possible to make bareback porn from companies like TIM illegal in the USA. Would that mean that new HIV infections in the USA would dropped considerably? In my opinion: no. TIM is the embodiment of an aspect of gay culture that goes back to the late sixties and early seventies and may even be older. This culture is charaterized by promiscuity, hedonism and drug use. The outbreak of the AIDS epidemic in the 1980s did not make an end to this culture. It only meant a temporarily halt but it never completely disappeared. Gradually this culture came back to the surface with a new generation of gay guys for whom the horror stories of the 1980s were something of a distant past. Making TIM illegal does not mean that this culture is going to disappear.

  9. Common sense should tell us what we can and cannot do if we want to remain healthy and sane human beings.

Porn is sexual fantasy entertainment in a ‘kids, do not try this at home!’ kind of way. It should never ever be considered empowerment where you come to the conclusion that it’s ok to be a common drugged out of your mind cum bucket with total strangers breeding your ass or you fucking random guys without a condom.

  10. More power to AHF. I wish someone could close TIM down. They symbolize the most degrading element of gay culture, and sadly produce the most impressionable type material for gay teens who are learning about sex on the internet. Kids don’t grasp that these models are either worthless NEG’s who aren’t interested in life/safety or POS’s having sex with each other as none of that is disclosed by TIM. So, kids just think it’s fine to distribute cum in whatever irresponsible fashion you want without consequence; that is the message TIM is sending…because life is merely about instant sexual gratification. If TIM were minimally responsible, each scene would have a scroll run across the screen several times that says “the actors portrayed here are both (all) HIV+…please be responsible”

    1. Marvel, you know what is the most degrading element to gay culture? – Gay on gay hate crimes, not an adult company, marketing adult products to educated adults, like you suggest. If our content is getting into the hands of minors, it is not the fault of our company but potentially the lack of good parenting.

      1. Nice try to remove yourself from all responsibility. Doesn’t work that way for most American industry, why should porn companies get a pass? For God’s sake, fast food companies have to put disclaimers on coffee saying it’s hot, so why should TIM be able to show ‘death sex’ without any disclaimers?

And let’s not go the parent route. First, we all know many parents aren’t good at the simple things much less addressing sexuality…even more so a young mans HOMOsexuality. Majority of kids learn about sex on the internet. They find downloaded videos and watch them for free. They don’t know the history of the companies, actors or anything else. They just know what looks exciting. They may see 5 minutes of a CF pirated scene followed by 5 min of a BA scene followed by 5 min of a TIM scene. There is no context. They don’t know about the companies…testing…pos vs neg. So, there is responsiblity for our community that porn companies can have while still producing the type films they want, but transparency would be preferred rather than hostility and 1st amendment BS.

        1. You are right coffee companies and fast food outlets have an obligation to warn their customers that the coffee they are about to enjoy is hot and could cause severe burns. That said, last time I checked no one got injured or sick from handling or watching our porn.

Our product is intended for consenting adults who have a right to make their own choices. If children are unlawfully obtaining our films or partial, pirated downloads, it again is the parents who need to step in to discipline and educate their child. When I was 12 I stole from the local convenience store. I was caught and taken home to experience the wrath of my upset and disappointed parents. It was their responsibility to educate me on what was right or wrong, It was their responsiblity to rehabilitate me so that I could once again be trusted in public places. It was not the store owners responsibility to make sure I didn’t steal his property, nor should he be blamed for my actions.

          1. “You are right coffee companies and fast food outlets have an obligation to warn their customers that the coffee they are about to enjoy is hot and could cause severe burns. That said, last time I checked no one got injured or sick from handling or watching our porn.”

Hardly the same thing. A more appropriate analogy would be to sell customers a cup of coffee or a hamburger that would give a customer an incurable deadly disease that would cause your body to rot. Then you’d be there to create a video to sell online.

      2. Haters are gonna hate. Don’t let it get you down Mitch. For whatever reason Treasure Island media gets all the hate from the public while Sean Cody, Corbin Fisher, Choasmen, Belami, etc, produce bareback porn and get a free pass. Why target one studio and label then as scum and filth as if they created or are the only providers of this genre?

Just like watching The Godfather didn’t make me wanna become a drug dealer, watching bareback porn doesn’t make me wanna bareback privately.

        1. Well said Real,

Yeah I agree, there are loads of other bareback companies all over the world,
And let’s boy forget all the straight porn companies that has been making “bareback”
Porn for decades and no one raises an eyebrow…

Education of safe sex should not be done by a porn company, it’s down to the guardians
And the education system in place in each country, porn is fantasy for the viewers in a way,
A joy for the eye and a pleasure for the brain and body

          Hugs anton

          1. Hugs back! Quite the pleasant surprise to have you of all people agree and respond to my comment. I’ve only had a subscription to cockyboys for a few months but have been very “satisfied” (especially with jake bass, yum)

  11. My favorite AHF billboard is the one in Weho that says “when used effectively condoms are 96% safe” . Really? 96% safe? Thanks for continuing to spread fear and lies AHF !!!!

  12. Government Regulate Condoms? I like Treasure Island movies and don’t get the impression that they are holding a gun to the heads of the performers.

Go Zach… love how people judge you no matter what you write…. lol (FUCK ‘EM).

  13. “We are not just a company that is being attacked but instead a culture. A culture that believes that SEX OF POS. men should be open, celebrated, and embraced. The efforts of the AHF are to hold onto the AIDS crisis and maintain fear and terror in order to maximize their monetization.” – Paul Morris

    1. I feel bad for you, “Mitch” because the clown behind the Paul Morris name has really warped your mind. You are not helping the gay community in the slightest bit.

      1. No need to feel bad for me, Bruce. I am an intelligent, attractive, loved individual who supports the freedom of choice. I hope to inspire individuals to live their lives as they see fit, making choices that deliver them the life experience they want, with out fear of judgment or persecution. So yes Bruce, I am out to help the gay community. My hope is that we can become a culture that is less defined by close-minded, judgmental bigots and get back to our roots of love for all.

So again, no need to feel bad for me, I love my life and all those around me, including Paul Morris.

        1. Yeah, you are a wordsmith, but what you are saying is bullshit. You propagate and profit off of a subculture of gay men that glorifies unsafe sex and a disease that has killed millions.

          1. There’s nothing “attractive” about someone who is party to a culture of disease transmission/re-transmission.

  14. Oh what the fuck ever Zach. This is good thing. The people (if you can call them that) behind Treasure Island Media are subhuman scum. It’s good to finally know your true feelings on this subject.

  15. TIM is disgusting for the most part.
All the guys are so fat ugly trashy wasted and overly tatted.
Biohazard tattoo? Really? Sun tattoo around your anus? Gross.
