The web-based first round of casting for Rupaul’s Drag Race‘s sophomore season has begun, and since the first season turned out not be as ridonculous a failure as the cynical queens all thought it would be, lots more of them are coming out of the woodwork and putting up profiles.

Listen up, queens!: Our favorite show and Logo’s single biggest hit to date, Rupaul’s Drag Race (which is co-produced by the brilliant folks over at World of Wonder) is starting casting for their new season!

Tonight’s the second-to-last episode of the first season of The Sword’s favorite show, Rupaul’s Drag Race, and excuse us if we seem over-excited.

We won’t get into handicapping the remaining trannies on our favorite show, Rupaul’s Drag Race, but we will ask you, dear readers, who you think has the most charisma, uniqueness, nerve and talent.

They’re now showing Ru’s big drag-stravaganza on VH1 in addition to airing it on Logo and streaming it online, so hopefully any of you lazy, “I don’t have Logo” complainers have managed to catch up by now on our FAVORITE FUCKING SHOW of the season.

It’s no secret we’re big fans of Rupaul’s Drag Race, and while we could probably spend half the afternoon handicapping the remaining 8 contestants and guessing who’ll be in the bottom on tonight’s episode (we’re pulling for you Tammie Brown, you little retro kook!) but instead we’re just posting the full episode. 

The fine folks at Logo/NewNowNext have posted all of tonight’s premiere episode of Rupaul’s Drag Race, just for all you gays who like to be all “Seen it!” to your friends.

The first round casting call for Rupaul’s competitive tranny reality show is just about over. Voting ends on Friday, kids, so hurry up and vote so the country isn’t stuck with the decidedly low-rent likes of Jessica Dimon and Empress Fontaine doing speed-eyeliner challenges and pulling off each others’ wigs like they were on Flava of Love. (Btw, how did these uninspired gals rack up all these votes? Are they huge on MySpace? What gives?) With that, we give you our arguments for why these other fine ‘ladies’ ought to be in the Top 5 instead.

The nation’s first great super-tranny, Rupaul, is getting up there in years, and in contemplating her legacy she has teamed with gay cable channel Logo and World of Wonder to produce Rupaul’s Drag Race, a combo Project Runway/Top Model where trannies and their stylist/hag pals team up to make outfits, do makeup and stage memorable numbers. Though the show won’t air until early 2009 (we know, we’re dying too), the competition for getting cast is already getting fa-roche, with online voting for Round 1 set to close on June 27th. We’re sort of partial to the likes of SF queens like Candi Gurl and Putanesca, or bizarro Old Hollywood-ish characters like Tammie Brown and Cassandra Forever.
But the queens getting the most votes so far are the ones who have gone
to the trouble of uploading videos of themselves, either performing or,
